A Beginner’s Guide To Travelling In Hanoi

Food & Local Cuisine

Vietnam is well-known for dishes like spring rolls or barbecued meats. While in Hanoi, be sure to try these authentic Vietnamese dishes as well as the much loved Vietnamese pho, which are essentially noodles cooked in a  broth made from beef bones topped with lots of local spices and vegetables.
Along the streets, a local favorite is a dessert mixture of sweetened condensed milk, jackfruit and papaya. Add your own amount of ice for your preferred sweetness level!

At night, certain main streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarters will close to make way for makeshift stalls where vendors will sell anything from tourist souvenirs to local necessities. Walking the night markets are a good way to pass time at night and to experience the bustling nature of the city. Haggling for a better price is recommended!
